A Youngstown, OH-area start-up software company has engaged TSP Executive Search Group to help them find, recruit, and hire a CEO to help provide executive direction to this rapidly growing business. We are looking to have this person on board in early February 2013.

The company has developed software which will be sold and implemented at hospitals and healthcare companies, corporations, and educational institutions. They already have several letters of intent from large organizations and a high level of interest from others.

We are seeking someone that can provide the executive operational, technical, and sales leadership to secure and grow the company nationwide. The CEO will be leading the company’s expansion efforts through business development, funding generation, IT leadership, and staffing. We desire to find a leader who is willing to acquire an equity stake within the company. We expect qualified candidates will have:

  • a background in IT sales leadership,

  • sales experience to hospitals/healthcare companies

  • the ability for fundraising capital to propel and sustain growth until sales

  • a strong working knowledge of HIPAA regulations

The CEO position, like at all start-ups, demands commitment and skin in the game. Being able to bring in funding initially is critical to the success of this start-up. If you’re not willing to wear multiple hats and do what needs to be done, then this position isn’t for you. The rewards for successful C-level leadership will be proportional to the benefits provided.

There is no relocation assistance for this position. We prefer to find candidates within commuting distance of Youngstown, OH.

The President provides effective leadership and direction in planning, implementing, and administering all programs and projects for Fashion
Fair Cosmetics. The incumbent of this position exercises initiative and judgment in carrying out assigned responsibilities; analyzes complex situations accurately and takes effective and appropriate actions; and manages and directs all FFC activities.

Principal Accountabilities

Accountable for providing focus and inspiring leadership to Fashion Fair’s leadership team relative to key strategic objectives and goals, and to give direction toward the achievement of the organization’s philosophy and mission.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct and formulate policies and coordinate business strategies and operational activities at the highest level of management with help of subordinate team members.

  • Provides effective leadership, ensuring that the day-to-day operations of FFC are effectively and efficiently coordinated and implemented.

  • Implements stringent project management processes to ensure the timely and cost effective development of the key projects undertaken by FFC.

  • Demonstrates an intellectual and professional leadership style that supports the attainment of respect and credibility by others.

  • Lead a high performing team of directors to the next level by further developing and implementing recruitment, training and retention strategies.

  • Implement and lead a continuous quality improvement process throughout the organization, focusing on business systems/process improvement.

  • Prepare and submit an annual operational budget to the CEO and CFO for review and approval, manage effectively within this budget, and report accurately on progress made and challenges encountered.

  • Partner with the CEO to represent FFC with external constituency groups.

  • Ensure that all business activities operate consistently and ethically within the mission and values of the organization.

  • Develops and maintains effective strategic relationships with key stakeholders, customers and clients of FFC.

  • Develops a wide range of relationships and networks with key stakeholders, clients and customers to position FFC as a well known and credible brand throughout the industry.

  • Demonstrates passion and enthusiasm for FFC’s vision, and motivates, leads, and empowers others to achieve organizational goals.

  • Displays a strong commitment to workplace diversity.

  • Promotes regular and ongoing opportunities for staff to give feedback on business operations.

Interaction: Extensive internal and external high-level contact to include employees, customers, clients, and vendors.

Knowledge and Skills

  • At least 10 years of professional experience overall, with a minimum of five years of senior-leadership experience supervising seasoned staff members.

  • Solid educational background including an undergraduate degree and an MBA or similar advanced degree.

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals.

  • Ability to influence or persuade others to gain acceptance or agreement of ideas and approaches.

  • Ability to analyze complex policy issues, draw correct conclusions and articulate clear and focused policy to wide and diverse audiences.

  • Ability to understand issues and make systematic and rational judgments based on relevant information.

  • Ability to formulate strategies and policies, and create new approaches in adverse situations.

  • Ability to take a broad based view of issues and events, and have an understanding of their longer-term impact or wider implications.

  • Ability to translate strategies into strategic and operational activities.

  • Ability to assimilate complex issues and use appropriate communication strategies to influence wide and diverse audiences.

  • Ability to actively listen, seek information, and ask questions to ensure the understanding of underlying concerns of others.

  • Ability to read situations aptly and exhibit sound judgment.

  • The ability to remain calm and deliberate under conditions of stress.

Working Conditions

Extensive travel, extended hours and weekend work are required, as well as attendance at various meetings. The person most successful in this position would like a fast paced environment, be hands on, team player and committed to continuous process improvement.
