CEO Bonus Bounce?
Total CEO bonus payouts fell by 12.6 percent from 2008 to 2009, according to a report by executive compensation research firm Equilar. The decline was slightly lower for performance-based payouts, which dropped by 10.3 percent, and much sharper for discretionary bonus payouts, 20.5 percent. The good news? Among companies with fiscal years ending in December 2009, rather than June through November, bonuses increased by 46.9 percent.
