PROGRESS IN THE PELICAN STATE

Louisiana topped more than $20 billion in capital investment in 2022, its fifth consecutive year of investment growth, according to the Louisiana Economic Development 2022 Annual Report. Ucore announced a $75 million acquisition in rare earth minerals manufacturing facility in Alexandria. Placid Refining relocated its headquarters from Texas to Baton Rouge, and a joint venture by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Sustainable Fuels Group is exploring a $4.6 billion ammonia facility in St. Charles Parish. Meanwhile, new tech development also continues to grow across the state with investments by companies like Excella and Big Fish Games.

Industrial Tax Exemption Program: Offers a property tax abatement for up to 10 years on a manufacturers’ eligible new capital expenditures.

LED FastStart offers employee recruitment, screening, training development and training delivery at no cost to participating employers. The discretionary program has expertise in a range of industries, including manufacturing, tech and research and development.   • DG Fuels announced in March 2023, it is evaluating a site in St. James Parish for a $4.2 billion sustainable aviation fuel plant.
  • Placid Refining announced in March 2023 the relocation of its headquarters from Texas to Baton Rouge.
  • SunGas Renewables, an independent division of GTI Energy, announced in July 2023 it is considering a $1.8 billion investment to establish a renewable low-carbon methanol production facility in Pineville.
