Chief Supply Chain and R&D Officer, Amway
Dr. George Calvert oversees all Global Supply Chain and Research and Development (R&D) functions for Amway. On the supply chain side, he is responsible for Manufacturing, Logistics, Demand Planning, Purchasing, Project Management, Contract Sales, Customs, Facilities, Farming Operations and Transportation.
Within R&D, Calvert is responsible for all technical functions, including Formulation, Design, Engineering, Process Development, Package Development, Regulatory Compliance, Safety and Quality Assurance.
He is also a member of Amway’s executive staff, the company’s top advisory team to the Office of the Chief Executive, composed of Amway Chairman Steve Van Andel and President Doug DeVos.
Calvert’s dedication to creating innovative, quality products for Amway began when he joined the company in 1989 as a Group Leader in Analytical Services. He served in various positions within Product Development, including Manager of Nutrition Research and Development and Senior Manager of Home Tech Research and Development. Calvert also was Director of Quality Assurance and Analytical Services and was responsible for the company’s Business Innovations functions.
Calvert earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the College of William and Mary, and a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from the University of South Carolina. He serves on the board of directors for the Personal Care Products Council and is past chairman of the board for the Soap and Detergent Association (SDA). He previously was on the board of directors for Interleukin Genetics, Inc.
