Chief Executive magazine named Washington state the 34th best state for business in 2011. In response to this ranking, as well as other economic factors, the state has made itself a goal to be the best state for business by 2020. Here are the steps it has taken to get there (other lower-ranking states may want to take a cue from these Washington business leaders).
While there were clear winners in Chief Executive’s Best/Worst States for Business, it was also clear which states have fallen out of favor with CEOs. Those who ranked poorly had something to say about it. Some saw the results as a catalyst for change while others disagreed with CEO opinions. Here’s what they had to say.
There have been many reactions to the release of Chief Executive magazine’s Best/Worst States for Business 2011. Here, top-scorers react to their rankings and make goals for the future. Texas reigns supreme for the seventh consecutive year in our annual Best and Worst States for Business survey. Over 550 CEOs ranked and graded the states on their overall business-friendliness. Rounding out the top three are North Carolina and Florida, while once again California landed at the bottom.
