Montana manufacturers are optimistic about their prospects for 2017, according to a survey of 250 companies released in March by the Bureau of Business and Economic Research at the University of Montana. Montana manufacturers in 2016 shipped roughly $9.7B in goods, accounted for roughly 16% of Montana’s economic base, employ roughly 24,500 workers, and paid about $46,000 per year, per person in earnings, well above the statewide average of $39,000.
