Richard Boudria Jr. credits collaborative culture and strategic mentorship for transforming his family business into a global technology solutions provider—and explains how AI-enabled services and purposeful scaling will fuel future success.

In an industry where technological disruption is constant and customer expectations continue to evolve, BCN Telecom has managed to not only survive but thrive for three decades. Under the leadership of Chairman and CEO Richard Boudria Jr., the Morristown, NJ-based company has transformed from a traditional telecom provider into a comprehensive managed network and technology solutions company serving more than 8,000 customer locations worldwide.

Boudria’s journey to the top began within the family business founded by his father, Richard “Dick” Boudria, in 1994. Rising through the ranks from vice president of sales to executive vice president, president and eventually president and CEO, he assumed the chairman role following his father’s passing in 2018. His leadership philosophy centers on collaboration and mentorship—principles he credits as fundamental to BCN Telecom’s ability to continuously reinvent itself in a rapidly changing marketplace.

An alumnus of the U.S. Marine Corps Executive Forum, which strengthens connections between Marines and civilian business leaders, Boudria brings a unique perspective to corporate leadership that emphasizes service, partnership and purposeful growth. Recently, he shared insights about BCN Telecom’s evolution, his collaborative management approach and the company’s vision for the future.

How has BCN Telecom been evolving since 1994?

BCN Telecom has come a long way since my father, Dick Boudria, founded the company in 1994. What started as a traditional telecom provider focused on delivering competitively priced voice and data services has evolved into a modern, international managed network and technology solutions company.

Over the years, we’ve continuously adapted to the changing needs of our customers and the industry. We transitioned from legacy time division multiplexing to IP, expanded into managed network services, cloud communications, the delivery of all forms of internet connectivity, SD-WAN/SASE and most recently, AI-enabled solutions.

Today, we support more than 8,000 customer locations through a robust ecosystem of network and technology partners. While our portfolio and reach have grown significantly, our core values, integrity, service and partnership, remain at the heart of everything we do. That consistency in purpose, paired with our willingness to innovate, has been central to our long-term success.

You’re big on collaboration in the workplace. Tell us your strategy and how it’s led to success.

Collaboration is part of our culture. It’s how we operate, make decisions and innovate. My strategy has always been to create an environment where people are empowered to contribute, challenge ideas and share ownership of outcomes. We focus on cross-functional alignment and open communication, breaking down silos so that our teams work toward a shared vision, not just departmental goals.

This collaborative mindset extends beyond our internal teams to our relationships with network and technology partners, technology advisors and customers. It’s one of the reasons we’ve been invited to serve on multiple customer advisory boards across our partner ecosystem. We don’t just deliver solutions—we co-create them with our partners and clients. That level of engagement fosters trust and has been instrumental in helping us scale the business while staying nimble.

You’re also big on mentorship—share your best practices for making sure these efforts are fruitful.

Mentorship has been incredibly important in my own journey, and it’s something I take seriously as a leader. For mentorship to be effective, it has to be intentional. It’s not about giving advice from a distance, it’s about investing time, listening actively and creating space for people to grow through experience. I believe in empowering future leaders by providing clarity, context and opportunities to step up.

At BCN Telecom, we try to foster a culture where mentorship happens at every level, both formally and informally. We create pathways for professional development, encourage cross-team learning and recognize leadership potential early. When people feel supported and challenged, they thrive. That has a direct impact on the strength and sustainability of the company.

What’s next for BCN Telecom?

We’re entering an exciting phase of growth. We’ll continue investing in AI-driven technologies that make our solutions smarter, more efficient and more accessible. We’re also expanding our reach into new markets while deepening relationships with our network and technology partners and technology advisors. And while innovation will always be a focus, we’re equally committed to advancing our customer experience, because that’s what truly differentiates us.

Culturally, we’ll stay grounded in our values while building on the collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit that has defined us since day one. And we’ll continue our efforts in giving back, through community outreach and programs that create meaningful impact. The next chapter for BCN Telecom is about purposeful growth, scaling responsibly, serving our stakeholders with excellence and staying ahead of what’s next in the technology landscape.
