NEW CAPITAL INVESTMENTS IN THE CORNHUSKER STATE

Nebraska continues to attract a diverse mix of economic development projects. In January 2023, Mutal of Omaha broke ground on its new 44-story headquarters in downtown Omaha, which will be the state’s tallest building when completed in 2026. Work has also started on The Catalyst, a $65 million medical business innovation hub at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. In August 2023, Google officially confirmed it is constructing a $1.2 billion data center in Lincoln. At the Governor’s Ag and Economic Development Summit in Kearney in August 2023, Gov. Jim Pillen and state officials said Nebraska is well situated to become a bio-manufacturing hub. Pillen declared the state the “center of the new bio-economy.”

“When our kids grow up and graduate, we want them to enter the most competitive economy in America—right here in Nebraska. This begins with strengthening our top industry of agriculture. It also involves developing quality infrastructure, reliable broadband access, a modern highway network and a world-class system of water management.”
