Are your top directors and officers protected from the threat of lawsuits? While the media has focused all the publicity on lawsuits aimed senior executives at large companies, it’s not just the publicly held Fortune 500s that are being sued by outside parties. Private companies and public firms of all sizes are experiencing more lawsuits by vendors, customers, employees and the government as well.
Chief executives of firms in all industries need to provide their senior teams with the protection they deserve. This means you need to thoroughly review directors and officers (D&O) liability solutions that can be customized to your organization’s needs. Typically these plans provide coverage for claims of alleged or actual breach of duty, neglect, error, misstatement, or omission. In addition, CEOs and other executives should provide your company with a clearer picture of emerging issues – both globally and locally – that can put your key people at risk in this changing business environment,
Keep in mind that a director can be held personally liable for actions taken by the company. That means that individual directors on your Board will require you to provide D & O Liability protection to minimize the risk to their personal assets.
An exclusive webinar “Protecting Your Directors and Officers from Liability,” can give you the insight and solutions you need to provide comprehensive coverage. Brought to you by Chief Executive and sponsored by Zurich, this one hour event will explore all the areas that can get your top players in trouble including:
- Discrimination and employment-related lawsuits,
- Environmental mismanagement claims,
- Breach of fiduciary responsibility,
- And more!
The recent recession and the recovery highlight three sources of risk that may be faced by private company directors and officers: mergers and acquisitions (M&A’s), initial public offerings (IPOs) and bankruptcies. Both M&A activity and IPOs increase following a recession, and frequently are the source of litigation.
Bankruptcies skyrocket during a recession, and continue at an elevated pace in this very slow recovery. Bankruptcies are particularly dangerous to directors and officers since the bankrupt company may not be able to indemnify them for defense costs or settlements if they are sued
Directors and officers can take common sense steps to help reduce the likelihood of a lawsuit, but no amount of care can guarantee they will not be sued. Since these suits can put the personal assets of directors and officers at risk, directors and officers liability (D&O) insurance is essential. Over the years, insurance companies have developed policies specifically tailored to the unique exposures faced by companies and their directors and officers.
This unique webinar will provide you with numerous benefits and takeaways, such as:
- Pinpoint exactly where your company may be at risk,
- Provide a clear understanding of the potential threat to you and your directors and officers,
- Reveal where your current coverage might be lacking and how to fix it, and
- Demonstrate what you can do now to safeguard your key players and their assets,
