Chief Executive Magazine Wins Top Awards for Analytical Reporting and Best Interview

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEGREENWICH, CT, July 5, 2016 Chief Executive magazine is pleased to announce that it has received two first-place awards for editorial excellence from SIPA, the Specialized Information Publishers Association.

In Chief Executive’s 2015 Best & Worst States for Business feature, the 11th edition, more than 500 CEOs ranked the states across multiple characteristics that included tax & regulatory regimes, workforce quality and quality of the living environment. This 10-page feature, which included nine distinct components, took first place among business publications in the category of “Best Interpretive or Analytical Reporting.” The judges evaluated entries on how they provided in-depth insight or actionable benefit to one’s audience. Chief Executive’s coverage provides CEOs with usable intelligence on how and where to create jobs.

“This award is a powerful endorsement of the rigor used in developing Chief Executive’s annual ‘Best & Worst States for Business’ survey and analysis,” said Chris Chalk, Associate Publisher.  “Our analysis has become the ‘gold standard’ by which states measure their ability to attract and retain private-sector jobs, which determines the health of every state economy.”

Chief Executive’s “CEO of the Year” feature won first place in “Best Interview or Profile of Someone in Your Industry.” The 2015 CEO of the Year feature took an in-depth look at Jim McNerney’s tenure as CEO of Boeing, during which he overcame significant challenges, including two military contract scandals and quality problems that threatened the very viability of the company’s 787 Dreamliner program. The coverage provides insight on how McNerney led the company’s turnaround that ultimately resulted in unprecedented performance.

“We’re very pleased to receive this recognition for our hard work,” said J.P. Donlon, Editor-in-Chief Emeritus of Chief Executive magazine, who wrote both features. “These are among Chief Executive’s strongest, most well-known resources for CEOs and we appreciate the acknowledgment from the media community.”

The honors were given out at SIPA’s 40th annual conference held in Washington, D.C., June 6-8.
